Prior to the local elections on May 3, I interviewed Harlow candidates from different parties. Labour candidate Laura McAlpine came to Harlow College to promote her parties policies and promises to the young people of the town.
Speaking to the Labour candidate, Journalism student George Docking asked about the changes Labour would make to local policies, following their current years in power. I also asked McAlpine about the state of housing in Harlow and how she would combat the problem.
On Laura McAlpine’s closing statement she said, ‘Housing shouldn’t be a commodity, it’s a basic right and I believe that it needs to remain a basic right, and we should fight with everything that we have to make sure that that is the case.’
