Official Royal Baby photos: Photos released by Kate Middleton
A STUDENT who lives in Harlow inadvertently struck gold yesterday, when she visited the ITN News studios and was caught in the middle of a breaking Royal story as the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child.
Maddison Davies, 19, a second-year journalist student at Harlow College in Essex had travelled to the studios on Monday, 23 April as part of her course and in conjunction with a production meeting her lecturer was invited to.
The would-be journalist visited the well-known News Channel with fellow student Anita and had an interesting time being show around and attending what she called a professional production consultation.
Maddison arrived at ITN in Chancery Lane, London at 11.00 am and attended the meeting which had been arranged the previous Wednesday just under a week ago.
Her and her friend were then treated to a visit to the Green Room where famous guests wait to be interviewed, and then went on to the Gallery where most of the action in the studios takes place, recording and sending out bulletins.
She said: “There were so many people doing so many little things, but they were all important for the studio to run.”
But, at 1.05 pm all hell broke loose when the news of the Royal Birth started to come in. “Everyone was in an exciting rush,” she said.
The script had been previously written as a template, and the coverage went straight to the on standby reporter outside the hospital. With pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge and her new son only hours after giving birth.
The big story took up most of the lunch time news and ITV London News. There were special guests and experts on the Royal lineage.
Maddison finally left the studios at 2pm after having an inspiring morning and a Royal day to remember.
