IT’S OFFICIALLY that time of year again! Head down to the Water Gardens this Saturday November 18 for the annual Christmas light switch on. The spectacular yearly event consists of several activities to get your family and friends in the Christmassy mood. From 4pm onwards, get yourself down to The Water Gardens Shopping Centre to have a free hot drink at Esquires (limited time only), have a photograph with Snowman and his friends and meet the big guy himself, Father Christmas.

Along with other festive events going on in town, the BIG Christmas Light Switch On will also include special performances from Andres Cruz, Hip Hop Pop, Rock Choir and a lot more. Switching on the main lights at 6pm will be the stars of this year’s Playhouse pantomime, Peter Pan. With all this to offer for completely free, it would be a shame to miss out on all this festive fun.

If you can’t make the evening fun, there are also several events going on during the weekend. Children are invited along in the Harvey Centre to make their own Christmas decorations from 1pm-3.30pm, and at 4pm Father Christmas and his reindeer will be walking through the Harvey Centre, side-by-side with a performance from the pantomime cast.

While you’re spending cheerful time with your loved ones, don’t forget that Black Friday has come early for certain retailers. With big brand names such as Topshop and Select starting their payday deals early, its time to treat yourself while buying Christmas presents. Don’t forget that all Water Gardens shops will be open until 8pm.
