HARLOW’S new wedding venue That Amazing Place, is not only an amazing place to tie the knot, but is a nuptial setting where your trusted canine can come too.
Just off Church-Gate Street, Harlow, this beautiful rural residence, is ideal for the perfect ceremony and also serves as a delightful bed and breakfast.
I meet with Manager, Lee Jacobson, who tells me why he loves working in such a great environment in the heart of Harlow.
We chat informally, in the main living room, a generous space with comfy sofas and an air of under-stated luxury.
‘We have been here for two years now,’ he explains, and we seem to be busy taking wedding bookings regularly.’ ‘We also operate as a B and B for business guests, and people who want to be away from it all.’
‘We offer an informal atmosphere, guests can be social-able or have more of a private experience, whatever they want.’ ‘What I love about my job is that I meet a diverse range of people.’
‘Guests can also bring their dogs with them and they can even be present during the ceremony.’ Lee’s own dog, casually trots past the door.
Originally, a 15th Century Monastery, the building harks back to its medieval and spiritual roots. Set in acres of lovely countryside, it is difficult to believe that, That Amazing Place is adjacent to a town of 85,000 people, the M11 motorway and a major airport.
This welcoming country house overlooks a stunning lake complete with Gazebo. ‘It’s beautiful in the summer,’ comments Lee. ‘There is a secret garden and couples can marry outside.’
Standing on the patio, looking at the ivy-clad walls, the authenticity of this unusual rural idyll strikes me.
‘It’s a hidden gem, ’says Lee.’ You know what? I think he’s right.
