You have to be at least 18 years old to register to vote in the UK. But should younger people be allowed to have their say? Harlow College Technical and Professional Skills Centre to arrive at Stansted Airport

Harlow College has moved a step closer in developing its Technical and Professional Skills Centre at Stansted Airport. The innovative partnership between the college on Velizy Avenue and Stansted Airport aims to revitalise the local economy by boosting both employment and skills. The vision became a reality following an announcement by Andrew Percy, minister at the department for communities and local government, who revealed that Harlow College is set to receive £3.5 million in funds from the Government’s Local Growth Fund. Karen Spencer, Chief Executive of Harlow College, said: “This funding is wonderful news for employers based at Stansted Airport and is a measure of the Government’s confidence in Harlow College to deliver another major project to support skills, jobs and growth.” She continued: “Our vision is to provide young people with high quality learning, bringing them closer to industry. “We are genuinely about careers, not just courses.” Andrew Cowan, CEO of Stansted Airport, added: “We are delighted the South East Local Enterprise Partnership has seized the opportunity and recognised the potential of a Technical and Professional Skills Centre at Stansted. “We will now all play our part in making this facility a beacon of skills and talent in the East of England.” The £11 million centre, which will open in September 2018, will be Uttlesford first college.
